Americans often find themselves bewildered by the divergent perspectives they encounter from Ukrainians online. On one side, there are those pleading for the war to be halted at any cost, weary from the unrelenting violence. On the other, voices defiantly calling for the fight to continue until the very last inch of Ukrainian territory is reclaimed. The divide is striking. In the third year of Russia’s full-scale invasion, as energy grids collapse under missile strikes and civilians increasingly become casualties of a war with no clear end in sight, the notion of victory has splintered into many interpretations.
